Flossing…

This is just a side thought… I haven’t posted in a while & had this passing thought, so I figured I’d throw it down here for the fun of it.

Yup, I said flossing. As in the little string the dentist tries to convince you that you need to pull between all your teeth on a daily basis. More often used to cut cakes than floss teeth in my not-to-distant past. (If you haven’t heard of cutting cakes with dental floss, you should try it! The icing actually stays on the cake instead of sticking to your cutting utensil!)

I used to floss maybe once a month. I just hated doing it. My gums would bleed, they’d be sore all day long, I hated it.

Well, about a month ago, I started flossing every morning (with those little floss picks, I love those things. Well, compared to plain dental floss, it’s a joy). I can say that my gums don’t bleed and they don’t hurt any more either!  Funny how things work when you actually listen to trained medical professionals.

So, how often do you floss?

What habits, that you KNOW you’re supposed to be doing but don’t, do you ignore?

It’s so fun to get on here and read something you wrote that you learned about.

Flossing is also good for atleast a couple other reasons:

    1) helps prevent heart attacks – yukky plaque build up breaking away and into the blood stream through
    bleeding gums….

    2) something to do with diabetes ???

I read all these things and heard them on news in the past 6 months off and on.

Go figure. I wonder what else they the dental society as a whole will come up with next to entice everyone to floss – like you, I hated to floss – that is until I discovered Plackers about 4 or more years back. Now, they have the white ones that have the FINE floss in them, unlike the green ones which were not with FINE floss.

FYI – I floss daily, and if I for some reason or another am fixin’ to crawl into bed and remember that I forgot to floss before I brushed my teeth, I cannot go to sleep without flossing now. How cool is that?
