Monday Morning
I’ve seen a couple of friends do Monday morning updates & breakdowns of their weekends, & thought that would be a good way for me to try & keep regular updates here on the ever-lagging blog. I may not always have something exciting to write about, but I will try to come up with something regardless of the level of activity (or inactivity as is most often the case) in my life.
Anyhow… On with this Monday Morning update.
- I ran media at church this Sunday morning.
I always love doing this because it gives me a chance to have a great time worshiping twice that morning and I get to really hear what out pastor is speaking on that morning. (121 Community Church has two Sunday morning services to accommodate our regular attendance). When I say I “ran media”, that means I am the person putting the song lyrics and sermon notes and bible verses on the screens during our worship & sermon times. We’ve got a team of 4 people who run media so we each work once every four weeks.
- Our Church is having a CD/DVD Recording event on September 27 & 28 titled Let the Morning Come. It’s basically going to be a worship “concert” of sorts with all the songs being new songs written by our worship team (not just by David Parker & Chris Clayton either). It’s really cool to see our worship team being so into what God has gifted them with & being so active. They do a tremendous job every Sunday morning & I can’t say enough about them.
Anyhow, you have to have a ticket to get in the door for the event & the Saturday night event is “Sold Out”!!! The tickets are free, but seating is limited, so you have to have a ticket to get in. When I left Sunday after the second service there were still quite a few tickets left for Sunday night’s performance, but they were going fast.
I’ll be running media for this event as well, so you know it’s going to be awesome! (Nope! No arrogance here!!!)
Oh! Speaking of our worship team & the music they do, they’ve had a CD available on iTunes for a while now… You should check it out if you don’t already have it! It’s titled “Things Above” by 121 Community Church. It’s a great praise & worship CD!
Oh! Speaking of 121CC & iTunes! You can subscribe to our Sermons Podcast here! You can also get the sermon & the notes that are referenced from our website here.
- We’re going to be flying to Pennsylvania this week to celebrate Melisa’s grandparents’ 60 anniversay. We’ll be flying out Thursday morning & flying back Sunday afternoon. This should be fun as it’ll be the first time for Taven to fly, let alone be stuck in a seat for 3+ hours. (Nope, we haven’t really taken any real road trips with the boys quite yet.) I’ll let you know & I’m sure I’ll have TONS of pictures when we get back.
- Let’s see, what else… I got some contact info for contractors to get our flooring repaired/replaced. My parents had a lot of work done remodeling their house not too long ago, so I’ll give them a call, but there’s also a guy at church who does this sort of thing, so I’m willing to bet we’ll be working with him.
Our Insurance adjuster included the cost of replacing all the laminate flooring in the hallway & living room, replacing the damaged wood floor in the hallway & hot water closet (which requires a plumber to come out & remove/replace the water heater), and I think that about covers it… Oy…
If we had planned better we would have gotten things moving sooner, so we could have the water heater removed this Wednesday and the wood flooring replaced while we’re gone so we could get the water heater back in place Monday when we got back from the trip… Oh well… Our insurance company said they’d pay for hotel stay while the major stuff got done, so we’re not out much other than the pain of not being @ home.
I think that is quite enough for a Monday morning update, so I’ll leave it at that.
How’d your week/weekend go? Tell me all about it in the comments. (Or email, if it’s too much for the rest of the world to see)
