Still searching…

At life group the other night, Tim mentioned that while he was looking for a way to be “The Light of The World” his wife mentioned that a co-worker of hers has been having a tooth ache due to a filling falling out… (Sound almost familiar?). Anyhow, they don’t have an expendable income, but he felt God leading him down the path to help out this woman. He told his wife to set things up so that they would pay for her dentist bill (Hug step of faith for him & his family at this point). Anyhow, they told her to set things up & then hadn’t heard from her in a few days. It turns out she found out she’s part Choctaw Indian & she was able to get the tooth pulled for free on a reservation in Oklahoma… (WOW! Tim was relieved!)

All that to say, he stepped out there in faith believing that God was leading him down that path.

I’m still looking, but mean-while, I’m always looking into the latest thing… Apparently there’s an easy way to negotiate your way through most mechanical locks… (Like the ones on your front door). & No I’m not talking about learning to pick locks (although I want to learn that too), I’m talking about a simple way that almost anyone can pick up in a matter of minutes. I’m going to play around with this soon to see just how easy it is. It’s actually kinda scary to think about how easy it can be for a criminal to get passed a locked door.

Anyhow, I’ll update as I learn & play more.

Finally…

Well… I’ve finally gotten around to posting again… (Not that anyone is actually reading any more since I keep starting/stopping…).

Anyhow, Men’s Retreat was a couple of weeks ago & one of the points that was presented was that the effects of this retreat would be seen 6 weeks from now, not tomorrow. If something hasn’t changed long-term, then all the weekend was, was a bunch of guys singing & listening to a “good speaker” & then getting back to their lives. I almost want to say that is harsh, but it’s right on.

What did I learn from that weekend? (Did I learn anything?) What am I willing to do with what I’ve learned? Is it going to change my life, or is it just going to be another “lesson” I listened to?

I’m not really sure of any of the answers to those questions, but I know I’ve been challenged to be “The Light of The World”… How am I supposed to do/be that?

For starters, I should probably stop being such an arrogant jerk all the time… I have a bad habit of snapping back with “witty”/sarcastic remarks & that tends to get me in trouble because not everyone thinks that way, or receives it the same. I tend to hurt Melisa’s feelings with that side of me & that’s the last thing I want to do… Much less to teach Taven to act like that.

Anyhow, what would you do? To be the light of the world… What would you do, that your only explanation could be that “You’re the light of the World”?

The example we were given at the retreat was a bit extravagant for most people… It involved the willingness/ability to front the money (no matter the cost) for a woman’s dental surgery. Not everyone can do such a thing, but we were challenged to find & perform an act which can only be explained by the statement “Because I’m the light of the “World”.

What could you do? (No really… That’s what the comments section is for… Tell me!).

I’m still looking for my opportunity. I’m just afraid it’s staring me right in the face & that I’m overlooking it.

Finally got the new Blog software up & going…

I finally got WordPress installed & going… I really like the interface & options for the look & feel of the site. It’s very easy to manage.

I just need to find a way to import my old bloggings from Nucleus (The blogging package I was using).

Anyhow, I’m at the 121CC Men’s Retreat right now, waiting for Loyd to auction off Brice McCasland’s art… He is such an awesome guy. (Loyd & Brice)

I’ve gotta get, but this has been an awesome weekend so far, but I can’t wait to get home to Melisa & Taven. I miss them a lot!
